HOW TO REPLACE THE KEYBOARD IN YOUR LAPTOP

One of the components of your laptop that is prone to damage is the keyboard. It is very easy to break these delicate parts especially when its innards are the tiniest. Replacing the keyboard is a crucial process. You can go to any computer retail provider to purchase replacement keyboards. Most manufacturers include a manual on how to do this. You may want to get an experienced PC technical support to do the process for you but you can also do it following these steps.

To remove the keyboard:

1.Turn your laptop completely off. Remove the battery and all the other components connected to it.
2.Turn your laptop bottom part up and remove all the screws. Some laptops have indicators as to where the screws are but if not, you just have to find each of them. Be sure to use the proper screw drivers: Philips Screw or in some models, T-8.
3.Turn over your laptop again to proper position, top part up and open it. Check to see if the keyboard is locked under plastic pieces. If so, unscrew each plastic piece and unfasten them as well. If there are no screws, then there might be a clamp which can easily be removed.
4.Remove the plastic pieces or whatever it is on the way one by one with a small pick or plastic pick and make sure you keep them all in one place.
5.If there are screws, unscrew the keyboard one by one from top to bottom. You’ll notice that the keyboard is connected with a thin, but wide, data cable to the system board at the bottom.
6.Use the pick again to remove the plastic connectors that hold this data cable in place.
7.Slowly remove the data cable and the keyboard should be free by now.

To replace the keyboard:

1.Connect the data cable of your new keyboard to the system board of your laptop. Make sure that the data cable is slipped in between the plastic connectors and is connected all the way through.
2.Put the plastic connectors back in place by using the pick again. Make sure that the data cable is secured within.
3.Put the new keyboard in place. This time from bottom to top. Make sure all screw slots and clamps line at the top.
4.Reattach the clamps and/or screws at the top.
5.If there were plastic pieces you had to unclamp or unscrew, make sure you put them all back in order.
6.Turn the laptop over again, bottom part up, and put back all keyboard screws.
7.Put the battery back in and turn your laptop on. If all went well, the keyboard should be working fine.

THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE BUYING A LAPTOP

Purchasing a new laptop can be an intimidating task. There are a lot of available laptops in the market today that offer a wide range of specifications. You can go to a computer sales provider and find yourself confused in the wide array of laptops on display. To make the purchase a breeze and avoid potential problems in the future, you must assess several things for you to know what specific laptop model you should get.
For what purpose are you going to use the laptop for? Several attributes of laptops such as processing capacity, speed, size, portability, operating systems differ from each model and brand.
Assess what requirement you need for your laptop computer to have. Students and entrepreneurs probably need to access the internet and have document processing capability. Laptops nowadays are wi-fi capable. It is the means of connecting to the wireless internet provider. Other connectivity options such as the Bluetooth may be considered as well.
Laptops are generally divided into four sizes: ultra-portable, thin-and-light, mainstream, and desktop replacement. Ultra portables are more or less 4 pounds light and have around 4 hours power on a single battery charge. They, however, have smaller monitors – 12 inches or less and have slower processing capability. Ultra portables are ideal for students and business persons who need to have their laptops all the time but do not mainly use it for entertainment, gaming, or editing pictures or videos. Thin and light laptops weigh around 5 pounds, have bigger monitors – around 15 inches, and faster processing capability. The same with ultra portables, thin and light laptops are suitable to be carried around everyday but it delivers better for document processing and entertainment. Mainstream laptops are best for those are on a budget. The monitors are around 15 inches and weigh around 6 pounds, processing power is average. Desktop replacements are the king of laptops. The monitors are around 17 to 19 inches and weigh about 7 pounds. The models in this category contain top-of-the-line components that are far better at handling video editing and gaming than the other types of laptops. Since they are packed with powerful components, the desktop replacements do not have a long battery life. They last around 2 hours on batteries.
There are several operating systems you may think about too. Mac OS X (or Leopard) is the most advanced operating system but only runs on Apple computer products which are a bit more expensive. This operating system is most secure but not all applications may run on the Mac OS X. Windows is the standard operating system but is very prone to virus attacks. Linux is less popular but is quick and very customizable. However, not everyone can be at ease with using Linux, since it has a different user interface than Windows.
Determine what other devices you will be working with. A good number of available ports will be very useful. Electronic devices such as memory disks, printers, external memory drives, are designed to connect to Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports. You may also want to have headphone jacks and CD/DVD ROM drives.
For other specifications, you always have to option to check manufacturer’s websites or go to computer sales providers and inquire. Do not hesitate to ask them about brand models you have your eyes on, and bear in mind what you have considered as your requirements for your laptop. Narrow down your options and then select the best one for you.
