In a few hours Barack Obama will take his oath of office
as the 44th President of the United States. The first non-white to ever hold that office. The fulfillment of what Martin Luther King spoke about when on the 28 August 1963 he stood in from of the Lincoln Memorial and told the world "I have a dream." For most Americans, this is the dawn of a new day. A time when America can once again regain its footing and lead the world in peace and prosperity. To paraphrase President Kennedy: the torch has once again been passed to a newer generation of Americans.
Americans who are ready and willing to face the future and see great opportunities in preserving the planet for future generations to enjoy.
Filipino-Americans, as well as Filipinos everywhere rejoice as Barack Obama, takes his oath of office. From Charise Pempengco who received a standing ovation for her rendition of 'God Bless America' in one of the pre-inaugural balls, to White house Chef Cristeta Comerford who will be preparing the first family's meals, we wish the new president 'all the best.'
